Today I will post about the usual hormone treatment, prescribed to children presenting with the micropenis condition. The main ingredient of this treatment is a hormone called testosterone, that among other also induces penile and testicle growth. Many studies have shown that testosterone treatment has a high success ratio for treating micropenis, unfortunately only when given before puberty. If you are looking for a hormone treatment that yields results after puberty, you may want to have a look at this post.
The treatment is usually given in the form of three intramuscular injections, each containing anywhere from 25 to 50 mg of testosterone, one injection per month. Depending on the initial results, the treatment may or may not be continued.
According to a study by Bin-Abbas et al., in most cases the testosterone injections do induce some penile growth. This penile growth in turn results in gain extra length during adulthood and in many cases to an average-sized penis. However in some cases little, if any gains are reported.
It should be noted that since the condition is commonly accompanied by other ,usually hormonal, conditions, testosterone treatment may be combined with other hormonal treatments as well.
Please be aware that circumcision should be delayed, until hormone treatment has been concluded.
